Die Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg ist entsetzt über die terroristischen Angriffe auf Israel. Wir sind tief bestürzt und schließen uns der Stellungnahme der Hochschulrektorenkonferenz (HRK) mit Nachdruck an. Unser Mitgefühl gilt den vielen Opfern und ihren Angehörigen.
Wir pflegen enge und vielfältige Verbindungen in Forschung und Lehre nach Israel. Unsere besondere Solidarität und Sorge gilt daher unseren Partneruniversitäten, ihren Studierenden und all ihren Mitarbeitenden.
In der Tradition unseres Namensgebers, des überzeugten Demokraten, Pazifisten und Friedensnobelpreisträgers Carl von Ossietzky, bilden Frieden und Demokratie die Grundlage unseres Handelns. Die Universität Oldenburg ist eine weltoffene Institution, die sich für ein friedliches und nachhaltiges Zusammenleben von Menschen und Völkern einsetzt. Das Völkerrecht spielt dabei eine zentrale Rolle in Forschung und Lehre und wird von der gesamten Universität als Selbstverständnis betrachtet.
Kein Platz für Antisemitismus
An der Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg gibt es keinen Platz für jegliche Form von Antisemitismus, Rassismus, Hass, Gewalt, Ausgrenzung und Diskriminierung. Unser Campus ist und bleibt ein Ort der Toleranz und Vielfalt. Die antisemitischen Ausschreitungen und Äußerungen sowie Angriffe auf jüdische Einrichtungen und Menschen, die aktuell in Deutschland stattfinden, verurteilen wir aufs Schärfste.
Wir schließen uns vorbehaltlos der jüngsten Stellungnahme der Hochschulrektorenkonferenz (HRK) vom 15. November 2023 an. Wir alle sind jetzt gefordert, Haltung zu zeigen.

We maintain close and diverse research and teaching connections to Israel. Our special solidarity and concern therefore goes out to our partner universities, their students and all their employees.
In the tradition of our namesake, the convinced democrat, pacifist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Carl von Ossietzky, peace and democracy form the basis of our actions. The University of Oldenburg is a cosmopolitan institution that is committed to peaceful and sustainable coexistence between people and nations. International law plays a central role in research and teaching and is viewed by the entire university as a matter of course.
No place for anti-Semitism
At the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg there is no place for any form of anti-Semitism, racism, hatred, violence, exclusion and discrimination. Our campus is and remains a place of tolerance and diversity. We strongly condemn the anti-Semitic riots and statements as well as attacks on Jewish institutions and people that are currently taking place in Germany.
We unreservedly agree with the latest statement by the University Rectors' Conference (HRK) of November 15, 2023. We are all now called upon to take a stand.
