We are deeply shocked by the terrorist, antisemitic attacks by Hamas and endorse the statement issued jointly by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and the Volkswagen Foundation as well as the statement issued by the Alliance of Science Organisations. The Hamas attacks are causing inexpressible suffering among the civilian population on both sides.

Our sympathy and thoughts are with the victims of these inhuman attacks and their effects, and with their families. We hope for an ending of this terrible violence and peace in the region as in the near future.”
